Consultant on best practice for community participation in environmental protection and monitoring

From 2013-2015, the Centre for Social Research and Development (CSRD) has been cooperating with Rosa Luxemburg Stifftung (RLS) with regard to hydropower issues in Central and Central Highlands of Vietnam, especially in Quang Binh, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam, Dak Nong and Dak Lak province.
We have tried to empower affected people with a participatory approach in hydropower development. Notable achievements have been the establishment of a communities network in the Central Region and increased capacity for people ro recognise their problems and advocate for their rights. We are continuing to support and monitor these achievements  to find solutions for urgent issues.
In other ways, we work with communities, the government agencies and hydropower investors to maintain the integrity of the environment and to provide solutions for affected communities.
