Training Course on Scientific Methods for Students
The Centre for Social Research and Development (CSRD) has been working with the Hue University of Sciences to organize a training course on “Scientific Methods for Environmental Modeling and Valuation”.
The course was conducted from 23-24 September 2017 by experts from the Vrije University in Amsterdam and the activity is part of the project “Enhancing Flood Resilience in Urban and Coastal Thua Thien Hue province, Viet Nam”.
The training course was attended by over 50 students from the Faculty of Geography and Geology, Hue University of Sciences.
Trainers for the training course were Mr Toon Haer and Ms Liselotte Hagedoorn – two research experts from the Vrije University Amsterdam. The training course focused on setting up scientific models for environmental modeling and valuation.
Besides introducing the models, the training included many practical exercises on data processing and software such as Netlogo and SPSS practice. The content of the training is advanced and has had limited exposure in academic circles. The students were thoroughly engaged by the training and were eager to learn more about emerging scientific methods.
