The volume of solid waste is rising rapidly while landfill is not likely to expand in many areas of Thua Thien Hue province. Thua Thien Hue’s Solid Waste Management Plan 2030-2050 includes proposals for industry, operations and community mobilization to reduce pollution and to improve people’s awareness.
Priority projects include the production of organic fertilizers; and the promotion of 3R activities through collaboration with business. A pilot project for waste separation at source has been carried out for a range of waste materials. Activity is checked regularly, with monitoring and guidance by project staff. Activities are designed to promote awareness and improve practice regarding the classification of the different items.
